Select star also allows you to trace data provenance and guide proper data usage, including setting owners, tags, and rich-text docs and metrics.
Column-level Lineage
Select Star provides automated, dbt data lineage at the column-level for all dbt operations. The platform also provides column-level lineage of the dbt models, linkage between the materialized tables/views, and BI dashboards from Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, Mode, Periscope, etc.
dbt Docs Integration
Select Star provides data documentation and data discovery on top of dbt projects by natively connecting with the data warehouse, transformation layer (dbt), and popular BI tools. Users can search across multiple platforms and make semantic connections. The dbt model page shows everything from the dbt docs, as well as links to linked tables.
dbt Tags Integration
Users can sync all their existing dbt tags to Select Star making them available, searchable, and automated. Tags in Select Star will automatically be matched to the dbt tags ingested, based on name to decrease duplication. Once matched, the Select Star tag will appear everywhere with a tooltip highlighting this connection.
